This is SUCH a great product! I don't have any worries about my extension cords running to my dog house. So glad I don't have to be concerned about the weather. This has been in my yard for a couple of months now, Kids and dogs running over it...it's sturdy! Very happy with it. I'll order another soon! We always seem to have cords running somewhere on this farm!

    This is very nice! It has double rubber 'grommets' to keep the weather out, as well as a rubberized seal around the seam when closed. The seal also has a plastic 'locking' mechanism inside to keep the cords from pulling apart. I purchased this to use with my stock tank heater, which has a very short lead on it. Those are so dumb, because they tell you not to use with an extension cord, but give you about 5 feet of cord. Like I just happen to have a receptacle that close to my water tank!? So I use a very heavy-duty cord, and for several years have been tying the ends together and stuffing them up under a bucket with a block on top to keep the weather out. I am now able to lay this down toward the base of my tank, and run the extension cord from the other end. Overall it's much less bulky and goofy looking, and should definitely keep the snow out!

    As far as waterproofing goes, it looks like it would take major splashes, just about anything short of dropping it in the pool. For most cases, this will work just fine.

    As far as the build quality goes, it is better than similar products I have seen and used. treat it well and it will last years.And the clasp which hold the halves together feels very sturdy. My only problem is that the black part inside does move some of the time. For me, the best part is being able to hook up multiple electrical cords and tug all I want knowing that they won't be coming apart.

    From a water sealing standpoint, this product worked great and I found no evidence of water intrusion even after heavy rains. However, this product is definitely not UV resistant. A little after a year from my purchase, the living hinge for the snapping cover had broken off. Without this, the two halves can no longer be compressed together.

    This product sat out in the open on my patio (in the Bay Area, CA) which sees a fair amount of sun year-round. If I lived somewhere with more intense sun like Arizona, I suspect that the product would have fallen apart sooner.

    Despite this experience, I will actually be purchasing another one of these to replace my broken one as I have not been able to find a similar product that's UV resistant. Given the low price, it's still my best option even if I have to replace it every year.

    Title says it all- don't expect to submerge it, but the seals are good enough for rain or snow. I use mine to connect a battery maintainer during the winter, and it hasn't let me get shocked yet!
    Take care not to lose the little black internal wedge which keeps your plugs tight, or you could come unplugged and not see it.
