- Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2013This was precisely what I was looking for at this time. The ideal for me is to eventually upgrade to a power rack, but with low basement ceilings, it will have to be a 6' rack. So for now, I got this. I'm not moving a ton of weight, so the rack and the spotter arms more than suffice.
Critiques:
The spotter arms are good, but I wish they were a bit longer. Also, they don't go high enough to useful for an incline bench press. Nor do they go low enough to be useful for a decline bench press.
The rack itself is sturdy, but it does wiggle more than I'd like. It hasn't made me nervous or anything, and feels solid enough for what I'm doing.
The bench doesn't decline nearly enough, and it doesn't incline into a full sitting-up position. So if you envision doing sitting military presses and using the inclined bench to support your back, just discard that hope.
The caps on the ends of the legs on the bench itself come off very easy. I need to gorilla glue them on to keep them from popping off.
Changing the height of the arms on the rack might be a pain to some. You have to unscrew and re-screw the knob that holds the arms in place. In reality, it's not really a big deal. Takes just a few seconds.
Bench isn't very comfortable, and the material seems cheap. It's holding up so far, but I haven't had it for long.
Finally, mine came without the Olympic tube attachment for the leg extensions, and it has been a pain in the rear to try to get in touch with someone to take care of the problem. Contributing to that problem is my bench didn't come with a serial number, so the warranty/registration service will not register it. So that means I can't get anyone to send me a new tube to attach to the leg attachments.
Things I love:
Very light and easy to move around. I can pick the bench up and move it where I need it with no problems. It's light, but it feels very sturdy.
The rack and the bench are two separate pieces. The Olympic bench I had before was just one big piece, and it drove me nuts. With this bench, I find it easy now to do flyes without my weights clipping the rack arms or without having to hang my rear off the end.
The bench has multiple incline positions, and it is VERY easy to switch between them.
The spotter arms are easy to move around, and they feel secure when they are on.
The leg extension attachment feels sturdy and smooth.
I like the placement of the feet of the bench. If you're not 6'2 or so, your feet may have trouble reaching the ground on the bench press. However, you can put your feet on the feet of the bench (you'll see what I mean), and push off on them. Works great.
It was very simple to put together. I took my time, and put it together in roughly an hour and by myself. You shouldn't need a second person to put it together, though having an extra pair of hands would be useful at times.
Doesn't take up much space, yet is very versatile.
Definitely a great beginner/intermediate rack-bench combo.
Despite the critiques listed above, I really like this bench, enough to give it five stars. The critiques are just preferences, and really don't take away from the product itself...outside of possibly the spotter arms not going higher and lower.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2014This is an absolute steal. I had so much trouble finding equipment (GOOD equipment) that includes both a bench press rack and leg developer in one. This has both of those and a squat rack on top of that. The bench press / squat rack is not attached to the bench, and that is really the best way to go because you can move the bench out from the squat rack to do other things like dumbbell chest fly, and of course to allow you to stand in front of the squat rack for squats. The bench feels super solid when laying on it.
I am upgrading from one of those tiny Weider benches from Sears. It only supported 110 lbs. on the bench press rack, and 50 lbs. on the leg developer. This bench gives me a significant increase to 310 lbs. on the bench press rack, and 150 lbs. on the leg developer.
I use standard weights, and did not want to spend the money to upgrade to olympic. The biggest selling point of this one for me was that the leg developer supports standard or olympic (with an adapter), and of course the bench press rack can hold an olympic or standard barbell just fine, so I don't need to buy olympic plates. All I had to do was invest in a 7-foot standard barbell and I was good to go.
Regarding the barbell - only a 7-foot barbell will fit (5 or 6 will not). For anyone upgrading from something smaller, keep in mind 7-foot is pretty big - remember it's like as high as a doorway. But if you have the space, then you will appreciate the better form that the longer barbell can give you with your exercises - well worth it.
Only complaint is the plastic rims around the barbell rack (where you raise/lower the rack) were chewed up / falling off when I unboxed it. One was kind of pointy and I kept scratching myself on it when adjusting the pin, so I just ended up tearing it off completely. Just a minor annoyance, doesn't affect the functionality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value.
Pros:
- Very stable bench.
- Stable safety spotters.
- Some plate storage on the safety spotters.
- Bench is very quickly adjustable.
- Assembly instructions are clear and easy to follow.
- Safety spotters are very quick to adjust.
- Bench can be used separately from safety spotters.
- Leg developer and preacher curl assemblies can be added/removed easily as desired.
- Good value for the money.
Cons:
- The backrest doesn't go to vertical.
- I am 6' 1" and the safety spotters could be slightly higher.
It is a very good set considering the cost. The biggest drawback to the safety spotters is that they aren't expandable like a squat rack is. If you never want to add hi/low pulleys, smith functionality or a pec deck though, this set would be nearly ideal.

5.0 out of 5 stars its a large box weighing easily 150+lbs.
I ordered on Sunday, shipped on Tuesday and arrived Thursday...its a large box weighing easily 150+lbs...very heavy. Instructions were straight forward and I had it unboxed, assembled and set up in about 2 hours. Its pretty sturdy, and looks great. I did have to go buy a 7' olympic bar and new weights as the smaller 6' bar I had didn't fit on the rack as the weights were right where it was to sit. I picked up a 100lb weight and bar combo at Canadian tire for $99. Love it so far!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Bench For Beginners
Great beginners gym! I would recommend having a decent set of hand tools to assemble. A few of the screws were somewhat stripped and are barely screwed in,still feels sturdy with the main bolts securing the major parts. No tears in seat and the seat adjuster is easy to use. I keep it in the basement and its fairly easy to move around on carpet.

1.0 out of 5 stars What a let down :(
So everything was looking great and i was stoked, looks real well built strong and sturdy. the bars the foam pads are on for the legs are kinda small and a bit a disappointment but i thought ahhhh the rest of it makes up for it.
Then i see it, .....the back rest is tipped to the left and out of line with the whole unit!!! The seat pivot has been welded crooked!!!! WTF!!!!
BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! The thing is completely unusable now. Any type of bench press or lay on your back/stomach will be compromised.
Come on Golds Gym, you got a pretty decent name in the industry get your sh*t together
